Ok so to all of you on the blogosphere... its been a while. sorry... Life has given us some abrupt speed bumps that have somewhat caused us to re-evaluate our positions. In the last 2 months Lew has lost his job (due to some rather absurd policy), we have finally moved into our new place (though no furniture yet) and despite the title of our blog we have obtained a new family member who is the exact opposite of the blogs moniker ( a baby black kitten named Jasper). So where does that leave us? Absurdly in debt, making significantly less money than before but... with several silver linings! no... really...
You see when we made the decision to move to Texas we did so based on Lews love of transportation, he wanted to finally pursue his dream of working with cars and motorcycles and building custom cars and hot rods (and maybe scooters). He is now working at an autobody shop a short 5 minute walk from the house, starting at the bottom but learning and loving what he does. It also puts us in a position that we are not locked into 20-30 years of him working for the state of Texas which means that after a couple years of experience we can indeed fulfill our dream of moving back to western Washington state.
It's interesting how life is evaluated by society and how so many of us wait for life to start without realizing that we are in fact living it.. now... each day. So even though life has thrown us some curves we now pledge more than ever to live our life the way that WE want to. Untethered by others expectations and only seeing our dreams and the path that is laid out before us to achieve those dreams.
We will be posting now more than ever to the blog, again with hopes that perhaps we can inspire even just one other person to live the life that they dream. So until tomorrow, goodnight all

Expressing one's self
If you have read our blog before you know that it took us a while to figure out who we really want to be and how we wanted to do it. We made it down to southern Texas and Lew figured out what kind of career he wanted, however we wanted to do something more, something that was truly ours. We are both artists, Lisa with paint and jewelry making and Lew with a pen and pencil and sculpting and we are both interested in decor and interior design. So we decided to do something about it.
We decided to start The White Pug, an online store with decor pieces, artwork and eventually even smaller furniture. We plan to launch the store by January and we will definitely let everyone know when the store is open so keep posted! So why am I telling you all of this? Perhaps it will inspire you to do something about what you really love. I'm not saying start a business but find something that you can do with what you love that makes you feel fulfilled. It will not only satisfy something inside yourself but it will also keep you busy and out of trouble LOL!

Who we are
Good day all!! So terribly sorry about that last few days,, they have been CRAZY! We did realize however we have failed to introduce ourselves and let you know who we are. We (Lisa and Lew) have been married for 5 years on the 23rd of This month. The second year of our life together we found out that Little Miss was going to be a part of our lives and she was born in Oct of 2007. It took Lew a while to get things figured out career-wise even though we always knew we wanted to start our own business. In April of this year we decided after years of discussing leaving the state of Utah we finally made the leap and came to Texas.
Our main interests and ideas for the business are very design oriented. Both of us are obsessed with scandinavian minimalist design (at times, much to the chagrin and lack of understanding from family LOL) and we are both artists. So we decided to combine those two loves and dive into the world of internet business. So in the coming months we will keep everyone up to date on the business and we hope to have everything up and running by probably December (Jan. at the latest but we will let you know).

BEACH DAY!!!!
Today was the PERFECT day to go to the beach! We went to the Seawall and found that there was almost NOBODY there! It was wonderful to somewhat have the beach to ourselves ( if you exclude the Egrets, Sandpipers, Clams and Pelicans lol)

Things work out right?....
Its amazing how so many things can all happen at once, I'm not talking bad or good... just in general. Sometimes its almost as if you blink your eyes and after a whirlwind of events your life is so different. We have had that happen over the last few months and it has been crazy, wonderful, stressful, joyous and just plain busy. Now it is getting back to the settling down and into our new lives. We got the phone call today that we were approved on our new place (yay!) and Lew is working in his chosen career as a correctional officer but it still feels slightly as if we are starting from scratch as we were almost five short years ago when we were first married. We are excited though, and when the dust eventually settles we will be so much happier that we were even a year ago. Anyway.... so this weekend is a beach trip!! We will take pictures so KEEP POSTED!!! (I promise will post some great pictures!)
Home Ideas
Its no secret that we are excited to get back to normalcy with our own apartment. You see, after we moved to Texas, we were going to stay with my parents for a few weeks - a month TOPS. Well. Life had its own plans and we have been here way longer than we imagined. But, we do have only 3 weeks left till we get the keys to our new place.
The apartment where where we are moving is, well, rental-y. Beige walls, beige carpet. We did find out that we can paint. So, we have been browsing the paint chips for something SUPER WHITE! Now, I know, some of you are rolling your eyes. But, every place we have lived, we haven't been able to paint and the walls have been a ugly white-pink, white-yellow, beige-yellow. We are ready for something that will make art, and decor really pop.So, to go along with that, we are planning on doing mostly black and white decor with the accent colors coming in later as we find things we love. We have found these places that are very much our style. Oh, we are so excited!

What I love about the South
Good afternoon Oh so gracious blogosphere! In our first post we mentioned our desire to find our HOME. I put that in bold because while we were living in the state of Utah it felt.... off... For those of you not familiar with the southern states, instead of asking someone "where do you live?" a very common expression (while not grammatically correct) is "Where you stay at?" While we were in Utah we felt like we were simply "Staying" there and not actually LIVING. It was very troubling to us and it made us feel like we were not being true to ourselves. Needless to say.... quite frustrating.... So anyway we sat down and decided to find our HOME. After much thought, conversation and prayer we decided to move near Lisa's mom in the southern Houston area in Texas, and we love it! We live only 5 minutes from the ocean, 25 minutes or so from Galveston Island and the beach and incredible historic district that exists on "The Strand". Aaaanyway the reason for this rambling is that one of our main goals with this blog is to possibly help others that may be feeling the same way that we did. We want to encourage you to find yourselves, wherever that may be and whoever that may be. In the words of the great Billy S. "Above all else, to thine own self be true"

Things that make you go "uh...... Huh?"
Yes I am a red blooded American male. I like cars. It's no secret. However..... My taste in vehicles might be a teeny bit different than most. Let me show you...
Jolly Holiday!!
It is a beautiful Labor Day here in the gulf of Mexico!! Hot dogs and sausages on the grill, Dr. Pepper flowing like wine and fine company! The countdown to moving into our new place has BEGUN (T- 25 and counting) Its a very "Rental-ly" type place but it will do for now and we can make it our own by giving it our personal touches (If this has always been your issue too then make sure you stay tuned!). We plan on staying there about a year and during that year keeping an eye out for a little rental house perhaps a bit away from the city where we can really do more to make it our own. Lew is working on the first of many products that we will sell in our Etsy store!! We will post more later today, just wanted to start the day off on the right foot!

A New Beginning...
Salutations!!!
So this idea started almost a year ago when we were still living in a dry and barren wasteland while our hearts yearned for the beauty of the forest and the sea. This will be an account of our life and our journey as well as eventually our online business (more info to come). Hopefully it will also be an inspiration to others who may not be sure of themselves and where their place is in this crazy world.
